Guided Tours (Portuguese, English, German or Hebrew)

Apart from being passionately in love with the island and seeing its beauty as if for the first time every time I go on an outing, I am a registered tour guide.

I will take you anywhere you request to be taken to in particular, being:

A leisure drive – through the sleepy little hamlets , trying to get a closer, more intimate peep into the local’s way of life – and, with a little luck, even be invited indoors to one of their many “adegas”, where one is inevitably offered a glass of wine, liquer or “aguardente” (firewater).

A highland outing – to visit our small lakes and varying landscapes; should the weather permit and Pico mountain appears uncovered in its full might, one can drive half way up and see the spectacular view stretching right accross Faial and S. Jorge, the neighbour islands.

A botanical outing – to have an intimate encounter with our particular vegetation, the “Laurissilva” (getting out of the car for a hike is always welcome and a day trip always involves a picnic in charming spot).

A geological expedition – to look and touch the original material the island is made of – basalt and plenty of lava with many exquisite formations and colours.

A local culture / art and artisanship visit - the popular school of artisanship in Santo Amaro, the atelier of our most famous local painters Fátima Madruga and her husband, whose paintings you can see at the reception of the hotel or the Belgian potters shop, who have joined our community several years ago bringing with them a lot of colour and good taste.

Or… you can leave it up to me and let me carry you off to my favourite places and hideouts, where few other people turn up.

To mention just one… to the place where the fairies meet, between the cedar trees!
