Climbing Pico

The imponent presence of the volcano confers to Pico Island  its 'soul', its charisma.

Its powerful charm arouses an appeal to climb it - a demanding venture, but largely comoensated by the breathtaking experiences it presents us with.

Climbing Pico requires a certain physical aptitude. Although all hikers are due resgister with the Civilian Protection Office at the base of the mountain, it is of utmost imprudence to venture without a credentied guide who can ensure your utter safety.

Program for 4 to 12 participants:

Option 1 - Sunrise (night climbing, make sure you have a lantern)

Watch the 'awakening' of the mountain at 2.351 m hight. It feels like welcoming dawn on the roof of the world, while Pico projects its shadow over the Atlantic Ocean. You will also have a fantastic view of Faial and S. Jorge Islands.

Option 2 - Sunset (night climbing, make sure you have a lantern)

As you climb, so does the might slowly descends upon the hills, and you will feel swept off your feet by Mother Nature as this quintessentially romantic natural show colours the Ocean's surface with almost irrealistic colours and shades.

Option 3 - Sunrise to Sunset (Night climbing with sleep over - requires sleeping bag)

The ultimate privilege, the possibility of bonding both overwhelming phenomena!

The effort is largely paid of by unfirgetable sights, emotions and experiences!
