In the XIX century, in Pico Island, people used to live from the soil and the sea. The whale catch was the moment of all dangers especially on summer.
The whale watching tower, was described as a small round white house, with only one door and one window without glass. It was from here that men controlled the sea, and in the minimal sign of whales they launched the rocket, and all the whalers ran to the sea.
In our days, the whale watching towers are seen as touristy centers to watch whales, as the whaling activity ended in 1987. Our tower is a replica of a famous one and we hope that you will spot many dolphins and whales
